So Hashizume was born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1978. He attended the Department of Visual Communication Design at Musashino Art University. Hashizume received his master's in Communication Arts & Design from the Royal College of Art in the UK, and graduated in 2006, seven years before creating this cover design for Idea. In 2018, Hashizume was appointed part-time adjunct lecturer at the Musashino Art University Department of Visual Communication Design and at the Joshibi University of Art and Design Department of Design and Crafts.
